Aprils fool’s day
April fool’s day is on the first of April. This is April 1, 2015. The purpose of April fool’s day is to have fun and trick people. Also for people to stay alert of any pranks that may happen to them. The origins of April Fools' Day are obscure. The most commonly cited theory holds that it dates from about 1582, the year France adopted the Gregorian Calendar, which shifted the observance of New Year's Day from the end of March (around the time of the vernal equinox) to the first of January. According to popular lore, some folks, out of ignorance, stubbornness, or both, continued to ring in the New Year on April first and were made the butt of jokes and pranks on account of their "foolishness." This became an annual tradition which ultimately spread throughout Europe and other parts of the world. Some pros of April fools are you get to have fun and trick people. Another pro is you get to just fool around and not be serious. Some cons about April fools are you get tricked and look silly. Another con is sometimes a joke can go too far hurt someone. In Italy, France, Belgium, and French-speaking areas of Switzerland and Canada, 1 April tradition is often known as "April fish". This includes attempting to attach a paper fish to the victim's back without being noticed. Such fish feature prominently on many late 19th- to early 20th-century French April Fools' Day postcards.
